Description

Matching the aesthetically modern Contemporary chess pieces with a gorgeous looking 45mm walnut veneer board gives the wonderful set. The sheesham pieces of the Contemporary set blend well with the walnut veneer of the board.

The board has been crafted from sycamore and walnut veneer, thus keeping price and weight low while still providing the aesthetic looks of wood. With a square size of 45mm the pieces are placed narrowly from each other but still find a comfortable space around them. For the dimensions of the board, you find measurements of 44 x 44 cm with a thickness of 13mm and a weight of 1.7kg. Perfect for anyone who prefers a tighter spacing or where a smaller and lighter board is advantageous.

As for the pieces, the kings stand 3.5" (90mm) high and weigh around the 40-42g mark. The pieces are weighted to provide superb stability on the board and are all equipped with green felts on the bottom for easy sliding across the board. Boxwood of high quality has been used in the making of the white pieces while sheesham is utilised for the black figures. As the name of the pieces suggests, the design is very modern while it still adheres to the traditional Staunton style.

A great set of modern-looking chess pieces, matched to a gorgeous veneer walnut veneer board. Ideally suited as an entry-level chess set where quality is thought but also makes for an intellectual statement as a décor for your living room.
