English Antique, 3.5" Antiqued Boxwood

Our English Antique can best be described as classic. Staunton design with fine lines but no unnecessary ornaments. Both sides - that is black and white - are made from boxwood; the white pieces are treated to give them an antique finish and the black ones have been ebonised to give them a look which resembles the very expensive ebony wood.

The knight asks for your attention with his teeth protruding boldly from his mouth and his short trimmed mane. And while the other pieces look pretty normal, they win one over with their colours. Especially the black pieces convince with the lustre in the deep black colour.

With a base diameter of 1.66" you will find a board with 2.1" / 55mm square size to be a good fit. The king measures 3.5" in height and weighs about 51g. The weight is quite similar for both colours since the same wood has been used. All pieces have a green felt at the bottom to protect your shiny board from ugly scratches.

If you look for quality and prefer a more traditional design, then the English Antique is a wise choice. The design is kept simple yet not boring and the antiqued pieces give them a touch of age. Great games are guaranteed with these chess pieces.
