A good looking board does not need to break the bank as is proved by this marvellous 50mm board made from sycamore and wenge veneer. Veneer is keeping the price down while still preserving the aesthetics of real wood. Veneer boards are also considerably lower in weight than are solid wooden boards.

The board comes with a 50mm square size and provides a good compromise of accommodating slightly larger chess pieces and where space is at a premium. The recommended size for chess pieces is one with a maximum 43mm (approx. 1.7") base diameter for the king. In thickness the board measures 13mm and brings 2,050g, i.e. slightly over 2kg, on the scale. On the bottom, four green felt pads are protecting your table from scratches and it also makes lifting the board easier since only a small area is coming in touch with the table surface.
