English Elegant, 3.5" Ebonised Boxwood

Our English Elegant pieces are a fine example of traditional Staunton design and a finely crafted knight. This is the standard version of our English Antique Chess Pieces, i.e. the white pieces keep their natural wooden colour.

As always, the knight asks for its attention with its finely modelled head and mane. In particular one should admire its teeth which are delicately crafted and individual teeth can be distinguished. But the other pieces deserve attention too and the ebonised black pieces win one over with their deep black colour and lustre.

The king's height measures 3.5" (around 90mm) and with a base diameter of 1.66" a board with a square size of 2 to 2.5" would fit well. On the scale, the kings measure in at around 47g and the pieces are doubly weighted. All pieces have a green felt cover to protect your board from scratches and allows for easy sliding over the board.

If you are on the look out for quality pieces in a traditional Staunton design, but also like to see finer features on your chess pieces, then the English Elegant pieces make a great choice. Deep black colours - similar to Ebony - good handling and the looks. All one can ask from quality chess pieces.
